GIST Assault Rifle - From 'Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society'

The reference for this model comes from the film 'Ghost in the Shell - Solid State Society'. Logo design and weapon name is my own.

For this project, I wanted to practise making a believable looking weapon for a FPS. I saw this weapon in 'Solid State Society', and liked the unique look of it. Since it comes from a 2D animated film, and isn't shown in great detail, it gave me a lot of creative freedom with how the weapon is supposed to function, so I took the opportunity to add some moving parts, and give some of the features some practical use. I also tried to add details to fill the empty space on the weapon, whilst retaining it's unique silhouette, and looked to other games with grounded sci-fi weaponry as inspiration, such as 'Apex Legends' and 'Halo'.

Whilst I didn't add as much detail as those games, since I do not have the skills to work as a concept artist and sketch out the whole model, I made sure to only add details that I could explain the reason for being there, never adding something just for the sake of it.
